OUR STORY
ETHICAL. SUSTAINABLE. QUALITY.
Our team is led by a master distiller from Jalisco and two brothers from Nashville, Tennessee. And our dream is to bring the world's best craft tequila to the US.The first time we met, we discovered that we shared the same dream, but realized that achieving that dream would require each of us contributing our skills and working together. We realized we shared the same values not just about the production of the tequila, but about how what we wanted to do would make the world a better place, for both the people who enjoy our tequila as well as the people who make it.
Interesting fact: all the employees at the distillery are women, which is unusual in a male dominated field. But we didn't choose this distillery because they were all women, we chose it because they make the best tequila, and we love the fact that when you buy and support our tequila, it provides jobs for women in a beautiful agrarian community in the green hills of Jalisco. And our environmental practices are simple—no chemicals are used to grow the agave. We think that makes for a better tequila and for a better world. We believe that good times with friends make the world a happier place. And what better way to get the good times started than with good tequila? When we looked at the tequila we were enjoying, we wondered, "are we drinking the best tequila made?" And that question started a quest.
We started researching and hired a tequila scout (we had no idea that was a thing).
Tequila is a heritage liquor, meaning it can only be made in Mexico by certified distillers (the same way true Champagne can only be made in the Champagne region of France).
We explored the landscape of tequila distillers and found that most of the best craft tequila never reaches the United States. Most of what we get here in the states—even the "premium" brands—is from large corporate distillers.
The goal:
To create the world's best craft tequila for people who love tequila and bring it to the United States.
After hundreds of tequila tastings (rough job, we know), we found the best craft maker in the world—a master distiller from Jalisco, Mexico—and worked with her to create and refine our recipe.
That recipe is the smoothest drinking tequila made and the best available in the United States—TC CRAFT.
What makes TC Craft so good?
To call ourselves a craft brand, we need to break with convention. We have to do things better.
That means instead of harvesting 5-7-year-old agave like the big tequila brands, we allow ours to mature for 8 to 9-years. Our agave is grown without chemical pesticides or herbicides.
Instead of pressure cooking our agave to save time and cut costs, we bake ours in clay ovens, slowly coaxing out the sugar in the nectar and developing flavor.
We use pure Jalisco highlands spring water and natural agave yeast instead of commercial yeast. There are no additives or fillers—just agave, spring water, and wild agave yeast.
We distill in small batches to keep tight control of the process, never over-distilling, so we retain as much of the delicate, nuanced flavor of the agave.
For our Reposado, Anejo, and Extra Anejo, we age in white oak whiskey barrels for longer than the law requires—again, to develop flavor and smoothness.
Ultimately we do all of this because we want to make something that we're proud to share with our friends, and every decision we make reflects this.
That's why it says on the back of every bottle, "Only for our friends."
We love sharing America's best craft tequila with you, our friends, and invite you to join us in bringing the good times to yours.
